If you want to be successful online, you need visitors. Too many people worry about the look of their site and not on actual visitor acquisition, and that’s a problem. Think about it like this, you can have the most well designed and sleek looking website in the world but if nobody is using it does it matter if it’s awesome? Will it make you money? The answer, unfortunately, is no.

Today is your lucky day, I’m going to give you 10 ways to get free traffic to your website. Follow the steps below and I promise you will see traffic go up, in turn, increasing lead captures and sales generated.

  1. Social Media Traffic

    2. Get involved with Social Media websites! This can include answering questions on Yahoo Answers, Amazon Askville, posting to Twitter, updating your status on Facebook or AIM, and the like. Be creative, there are hundreds of thousands of websites out there related to your topic, take the time to find the good ones and immerse yourself in the community.

  2. Offline Traffic

    3. Yes, offline traffic is pretty easy to come across if you use your imagination a little bit of hustle. If you have a site about weight loss, make some flyers about weight loss and diet information and post them around town. If you’re doing Adsense based revenue sites, tell all your friends/family offline to go to YourSite.com and click the ads. It’s really as simple as that.

  3. Article Marketing

    4. Go to EzineArticles.com, register for a free account, and write articles related to your topic. Ezine allows you to write articles available to the public for free and include a signature where you can link to your site and attract not only traffic, but highly targeted traffic that converts!

  4. Blog Comments

    5. By commenting on related blogs and forums with useful comments, you will be surprised how much traffic a signature or link back to your web site can go if you actually take the time to answer a question or comment on an article thoughtfully.

  5. Craigslist

    6. There is a reason why this website is the 7th most popular site in the world. I was going to include this in the “Social Media Traffic” section, but I think craigslist deserves its own section. Register an account and start getting clicks to your website now.

  6. Video Traffic

    7. Post a video on YouTube or the like. Make sure you include a link back to your site under the description. The beauty about video traffic is you can create an audio clip and turn it into a video file that’s branded with your site and get great traffic from videos.

  7. Press Releases

    8. They are often overlooked, however if used effectively, can be very powerful. You write a press release about your site and submit it to sites like prweb.com or the like. I would recommend doing a little research on press releases before submitting one to prweb as a press release is NOT written like a normal article but don’t worry, it’s easy!

  8. Email Signature

    9. Sounds stupid, but if you are trying to get people to your website, simply adding a link to your main site in your signature can bring you quality traffic that clicks thru ads. In addition, you’d be surprised what people you know are willing to sign up for or what they might be interested in “behind closed doors” so definitely get your signature in your email.

  9. Reciprocal Links

    10. Search your main keywords your site is catered to in Google and note the results. Next, contact the site owners and see if you can exchange reciprocal links with those related websites.

  10. Search engine optimization (SEO)

    11. I put SEO last on the list because although organic search engine traffic is among the richest, highest converting traffic on the web, it does take a long time and quite a bit of effort to see this free traffic start coming in. When it does though, side effects include happiness and bliss.
