Get Free Traffic With These 12 Easy Tips

Posted: 6th April 2010 by Daniel Waser in Free Traffic System

Money and time are the two most precious assets you have in this world. This is why buying traffic for your website is the easiest way to increase your traffic. However, for those who are new at online marketing, you probably don’t have a lot of money to invest in improving your traffic. If this is your case, you’ll have to invest time instead of money.

The traffic techniques proposed in this article will take time but they are absolutely free. You’ll receive targeted traffic and if your site is properly monetized, you’ll soon be able to afford buying traffic. When that time comes, you can focus your newly acquired time to build other websites where you can repeat the whole process over again. Without further ado, here are 12 great free traffic techniques:

1. The first tip is extremely important but fortunately most people already know about it. The major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN need to know that your site even exists, so you need to submit your site to these search engines and as many other search engines as possible.

2. Discover blogs that are related to your subject and write comments that are relevant to the blog post. Include a link to your site in your comments. You can also answer questions related to your subject at Yahoo Answers and include a link to your site in the reference section for each of your answers. You can also join one of the most popular forums about your subject and post on a regular basis. Include your website address in your signature block.

3. Here’s a very powerful way to get traffic: write a press release that covers your website and submit it to press release sites (e.g., prweb.com). Keep in mind that press releases are not written like articles, so do your research first.

4. You can also write reviews and unbiased testimonials about products or services that you’ve satisfactorily used in the past. Include a back-link to your site.

5. Start blogs on blogger.com and WordPress.com. Link your blogs to your website and submit your blogs to several free blog directories. There are hundreds of them! That’s a sure way to get traffic as long as you update your blogs regularly.

6. Find free classified sites and post ads that contain a link to your site. Try Craigslist.com for example. The best sites should let you put a live link but post with the other sites too. If your ad is catchy and interesting, people will copy your link address and paste it into their browser or type it in directly. Simply make sure that you select the right category.

7. Add a link in your email signature block for free additional traffic.

8. Get an account on MySpace.com and start a page. Do the same with other social bookmarking sites that have high Google page ranks. Go to Squidoo.com and open a few accounts and create a few lenses. You can link these back to your site.

9. Use YouTube.com and post a viral video. Feel free to use simple video techniques or a Power Point presentation with a soundtrack.

10. Use Google to search for some of your main keywords and contact related websites that rank well to see if they would be interested in exchanging links with you.

11. Create 5 to 10 keyword-optimized articles with a link to your site (either in the body of the article or in a biography box) and submit these articles to several free article directories. This proven bum marketing technique will increase your traffic.

12. If you’re feeling inspired, write a short 10 to 20-page report or even an e-book on a subject related to your website. You can also use a product with giveaway rights and brand this product with a link to your website. Once these documents are created, submit them to several free e-book directories.

Here’s another tip but it’s not free. Could your domain name be easily misspelled? Are there variations on the spelling based on dialects? If you’ve got balls, you can even do the same with your competitor’s website and purchase the domain names if they are available and re-direct that traffic to your website.

This list may have you believe that you’ll be doing this for the rest of your life… While you can do all of these techniques if you have time, you can also pick and choose the ones that you want to put in place right now. Spend 30 to 60 minutes per day on building free traffic. Once you’ve covered a particular technique, move on to a different one and by being consistent, you should see a definite increase in traffic. With this increased traffic, your sales will likely go up and you should be able to afford buying traffic soon. When you can afford to buy traffic, focus all of your attention on building your online business instead of building traffic.
